Update and Feb. 2nd Mindfulness Gathering

The Buddha of the twenty-first century – Maitreya, the Buddha of Love – may well be a community rather than an individual. Sanghas that practice loving kindness and compassion are the Buddha we need. We can prepare the ground for bringing that Buddha to life, for our sake and for the sake of countless others, by transforming our own suffering and cultivating the art of Sangha-building.

– Thich Nhat Hanh, The Heart of the Buddha’s Teaching

Dear POC Sangha Jewel,

We are very grateful for your presence and practice as we continue growing roots and co-creating our community of mindfulness practice together. Thank you for showing up, offering your wholesome energy and cultivating safety, community, peace, healing and joy for ourselves, our families, ancestors and communities.  Welcome again to new friends we met today; we hope you were nourished by our time together.  Much, much gratitude to Sweetwater Zen Center friends Anne Seisen Saunders, Doshin Woods and Kozan Cummings for being part of the supportive conditions for our Sangha to manifest.

Our next POC Mindfulness Gathering will be coming up soon in two weeks, Sunday, Feb. 2nd, 2014, and we’ll begin meeting regularly every 1st Sunday of the month in 2014. We will be sitting and breathing together in the midst of Super Bowl Sunday!

THANK YOU DEAR SANGHA FOR BEING THERE & FOR BEING MY OTHER SELF. Enjoy this song of gratitude.

Thanks to Br. Hung for being a “solid as a mountain” big brother in the practice as an OI member and our Dharma teacher guide.

Thanks to Maggie for guiding us with walking meditation.

Thanks to Marco, Chris, Christian, Alfonso, Ale, Jon for behind-the-scenes organizing and caretaking work on behalf of the Sangha.

We invite you to share in whatever way you feel inspired. If there’s something you would like to offer, please feel free to email back and let us know. The role of sharing  or facilitating a practice can be a wonderful way to explore your practice.  We have many resources available to consult as support for facilitating a practice. We look forward to hearing and being led by the diversity of strength, creativity, wisdom, experience and rootedness of our collective Sangha.

We look forward to being in Sangha again with you.  Take good care.
